We aren’t here to make you a master in only four weeks. But we will give you the skills and vocabulary you need to succeed with this remarkable medium! You will be able to continue on with Carol’s regular courses or other watercolor classes with confidence.

Painting: The Urban Landscape - Spring 2023 |
This intermediate level Zoom watercolor* class focuses on your own urban environment as inspiration for your painting. Strong emphasis will be placed on composition and perspective. You will learn about the sculptural qualities of buildings and how light and color can enhance form, explore ways to integrate sensory cues to evoke a feeling of place, and examine how artists in history have used composition to structure their paintings. Understanding and drawing basic forms, freehand, will be taught. Each week, a recording of the class will be available for you to review and there will also be an email check-in available to students during the week.

Winter: Color and Light - Autumn 2021 |
In this new Zoom-based class, we will focus on the season of winter and how it effects colors, light and shadows. We will discuss how to achieve interesting muted colors, especially in shadows. We will paint landscape, of course, but we will also be studying other subjects that are affected by winter’s light. The instructor will demonstrate each week, and critiques will be given. You will also be able to paint together in class.

The Colors of Fall - Autumn 2021 |
This is a live-online class designed for students who have basic watercolor skills and are ready to develop their skills further. Weekly classes on Zoom combine informative critiques, live demonstrations and painting together. Other resources, including recorded demonstrations and a private Facebook page, are included.
